Sorting BEX Report

I am fairly new to BW and can't figure out how to get a report formatted the way our client has requested.

When I

drag Dimensions to the Rows, the Sort Hieararchy by Default is from left to right and the Contents of the Rows will always be

placed in the left most columns in the Worksheet. Is there any way to move things around and specify a Sort Hierarchy other

than the Default.
For example, we have a report similar to this where the Sort Hierarchy is Material within Forecast

Grouping code:

Review:

I got this book for review and found it pretty detailed. If you are looking for a Step-by-Step

guide with detailed screen shots and clear explanations - then this IS IT!

I have seen so many users and consultants

who would like to master BEx but have to sift through a lot of text on the instruction manuals on a project or SAP Help to

get to do simple things that could deliver the a report in a manner that they would like to get - but cannot find help. For

those times, this is a good guide.

The good thing is that it details the steps in separate sections for reports in

Excel and reports on Web.

I would recommend this as a book to be in the library of all BW consultants and users!

Please Wait Popup Window in Web Report

Hi..

In my webreport, after giving the input values in the selection screen, when I

press Execute button, the report is taking time to get displayed.

In the meantime, I want the report to show a popup

window, "Please Wait, My request is being processed".

Is there anyway to do this?

Thanks,
Sai.

Review:

This is an excellent

resource solely dedicated to BW Reporting and long overdue.

The book was written by Peter Scott, one of the leading BW

Reporting consultants and has contributions from other consultants as well. There is a free chapter to download there as

well... The tips & tricks were very valuable for me. It is written in common english and explains many undocumented

features about the BEx Analyzer, Web Application Designer, and the scheduling functionality found in the reporting agent

which I can now use.

I wish it was longer and I will look forward to another release in the future....

Cheers,

Alex

-make sure you have enough memory
3. limit the result set returned by a query:

-create secondary indeces
-partition InfoProviders, and create queries based on time
-archive unused or minimally used data
