Complexity Cost Impact and Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence or its cousin Performance

Management has slowly but surely taking over the imaginations of the CIOs and their bosses CFOs. The thing is it is NOT

possible to separate the process and strategy with the system implementation platform. And THAT is where the current

dichotomy is gathering storm.

While Hackett Group says that having a single ERP platform and having aligned processes

brings down the finance cost by 23%. There is a Complexity Cost Impact that creates cost and THAT is where the crunch

lies.

The "Finance Club" wants the Hyperion front end and flexibility, while the "IT/Tech Club" wants the one system -

mostly SAP products with its datawarehouse product (Business Warehouse).

The disagreement between what is good for the

company (or what is good for the users) has in my experience created a "Analysis-Paralysis".

I have found it hard to

create a headway in this argument!

What do you say?
