Position Summary
Autodesk
is looking for a talented Development Manager to further extend our world class information technology environment. This
position is part of the Enterprise Application Development Team in IT. This group provides business application analysis,
development and support to the worldwide business organization.
The successful candidate will engage in projects that
will provide solutions to internal clients by leading a team of software development professionals skilled in the use of SAP
technologies, Java, J2EE, and Middleware. These technologies will be used to extend the capabilities of Autodesk's
deployments of Siebel Systems and SAP.
This role requires the ability to concisely evaluate the business requirements
of the globally dispersed, end-user organizations and recommend and/or participate in the study of appropriate business
solutions. This role involves active participation with regards to analysis, design, documentation, performance studies, and
implementation of business applications and other mission critical systems as deemed necessary.
The ideal candidate
will have a successful track record of delivering complex solutions in the Enterprise application space. The candidate needs
to be prepared to deliver in a fast paced development environment.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities:
* Provides leadership to a team of 6-10 software professionals and coordinates
activities with external departments including internal clients, QA, various business groups, etc. Performs career
development guidance for members of the development team.
* As a skilled manager, shifts resources and adapts
to unexpected impacts to the project schedule.
* Assists in the design and deployment of large scale, high
reliability, and high load IT environments to support the needs of a multi-national corporation.
* Manages
external consultants, both independent subject matter experts and teams provided by vendors.
* Ensures
compliance with internal development standards in systems analysis, detailed design, development and configuration
activities.
* Ensures that the development team adheres to modern development processes and activities such as
code reviews, the use of unit tests, version control etc. and provides leadership in identifying opportunities to further
increase the capabilities of the team.
* Evaluates and recommends new tools and technologies to enhance staff
productivity and effectiveness, as well as to improve the capabilities and usability of existing systems.

Provides long term planning services to ensure adequate staff and appropriate processes are in place to address the needs of
the department.
* As a skilled manager, shifts resources and adapts to unexpected impacts to the project
schedule.
* Ability to document and present complex solutions to senior management within development and
business community.
* Participate in needs analysis, design reviews and provide detailed design specifications
based on requirements gathered through the business requirements and solution design
phases.
Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years, ideally 10 in software development and
enterprise systems implementation.
* Minimum 3 years experience managing software development staff.
*
BA/BS degree, MBA/MS degree preferred or equivalent.
* Skills in managing multiple and often conflicting
priorities. Proven experience in implementing cross functional systems initiatives.
* Demonstrate a proven
track record in building enterprise-class software products and solutions.
The successful candidate will ideally have
significant experience in the following technologies:
* implementing and supporting enterprise applications
(ERP: SAP, Siebel, preferred).
* using the J2EE framework to implement enterprise systems.
*
software development using some combination of Java, Javascript, XML technologies, C/C++, .NET.
* use of
middleware products such as Tibco or equivalent to integrate multiple application systems.
* deployment and
configuration of standard web technologies such as web servers, application servers, and identity management
infrastructure.
* Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
* Candidate should have demonstrative
skills in modeling and appropriate tool skills.
* Will require excellent communication skills both verbal and
written, appropriate for both business and technical audiences.
* Ability to multitask effectively in a fast
paced environment.
* Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Maturity and ability to work independently in a dynamic project environment with aggressive
deadlines.
