ERP in a growth mode in India

I just came across this from an Indian newspaper. I never thought that

Indian companies will be adopting to ERP packages with such a gusto! But then with the growth in economy and business

taking place at such a great pace it is probably necessary!

However, I thought that an open source ERP like

href="http://www.compiere.org/">Compiere would be more suited for the country. However, I dont see that happen in India

much! If you look at the partners of Compiere - you will find that

there is none from India!

Leading real estate players in the country are adopting ERP

(enterprise resource planning) solutions with a vengeance, says Srinivas Rao A, Executive Sponsor (small and midsize

enterprise business), SAP India.
Bangalore-based Sobha Developers which initiated an ERP integration in 2003 at a

nominal cost of Rs 20 lakh claims to have benefitted from as much as 10% savings in costs, says K Suresh, Vice President,

Sobha Developers.

“ERP integration of our core and back-end activities such as architecture, engineering,

purchases, invoices, payments, vendor selection, tax calculations and employee salaries has resulted in a significant time

and cost saving for the company. The introduction of ERP has also ushered in higher discipline in the organisation, besides

making statutory compliance a hassle-free affair, explains Suresh
